Gambit’s 2009 Fairs and Festivals Guide – Fairs and Festivals are scheduled almost every weekend of the year in Louisiana. – News & Views – Gambit Feature – The Gambit – New Orleans

March 12th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in I Like Lists, Louisiana (Where I'm From)

Louisianans love festivals, perhaps because they bring together in one place the things we love most about our state: culture, food, music and fun. Almost every town hosts at least one festival to spotlight its unique character, and the themes and offerings are as varied as different cooks’ gumbos.

To help us pull together information on the state’s fairs and festivals, The Gambit has turned to Julie Posner, reigning queen of Louisiana festivals and publisher of the 12th annual Huli’s Calendar of Louisiana Festivals and Events. The calendar lists hundreds of events across the state, with dates, town names, phone numbers and Web sites. You can buy a calendar for $14.95 at local stores, or purchase one online at www.louisiana-festivals.com.

Mashed Potatoes: KFC
Beans: Popeyes (duh!)

Chicken: he says its a tight competition. He’s wrong. Who would pick Popeyes over KFC?

He wants people to chime in on twitter. I’m pissed that he’s making me wait for the official decision on something so important…

Britney’s Back!

March 4th, 2009 | 1 Comment | Posted in Louisiana (Where I'm From), Music

As some of you may or may not know… I like Britney Spears. Please don’t tell anyone. It could ruin my
image. But…I’ve always liked her music and also have sort of a personal connection to her. Her 1st concert since her come back was last nite and I found the 1st review on Perez Hilton!!

Britney Spears descended from the sky at the New Orleans Arena on Tuesday night to rightfully reclaim her role as the Princess of Pop. And Perez was lucky enough to be there!

One of the reasons we decided to go to New Orleans was because we weren’t sure if Britney would make it without quitting through to the middle of April, when her Circus tour is scheduled to hit Los Angeles. Heck, we weren’t even sure she could pull off opening night.

And she did! Quite well. Much better than we had expected!
